Leadership changes are experienced in every ministry context. Every single one. At some point, every leader currently serving will step out of their role. Succeeding in succession starts long before a change in leadership.

Blog

Healthy ministries are led by healthy leaders.

It has been my privilege to serve and lead ministries across Canada for more than 20 years.

After all these years, I am convinced that healthy ministries are led by healthy leaders.

Presently, I am the executive director of Camp Caroline, a year-round Christian camp and retreat centre located in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Prior to serving in Christian camping, I served in pastoral ministry. While serving as a pastor and executive director I have completed a Master of Arts in Leadership, a Master of Business Administration, and, most recently, a Doctor of Ministry.

I am also an ordained minister with the Alberta Baptist Association (of the North American Baptist Conference).

Succeeding In Succession is the culmination of much study, reading, reflection, and prayer.

Ben Trites, DMin

This series was developed as part of my doctoral work. The focus of my work was the formation of a leadership model to help ministries sustain organizational health during seasons of transition.

The principles and practices that have shaped Succeeding In Succession are intended to guide leaders and ministries toward vibrant health and godly impact.

The completion of Succeeding In Succession would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of so many in my life. I am deeply grateful for all those who have helped me. I want to especially thank my wife, Charity; the Board of Directors of Camp Caroline; my mentor team, Rev. Dr. Steve McCready, Rev. Dr. Ken Bellous, and Rev. Sam Nikkel; and each participant, who so willingly shared their experience. I pray our work together will serve well those called to lead.

If you have questions about Succeeding In Succession, I am happy to connect with you.
